Condolences on the passing of Diego Maradona

On behalf of Club Atlético River Plate, its Honorable Board of Directors sends its condolences and accompanies his loved ones in this moment of grief and pain.

Diego Maradona passed away on Wednesday, November 25th, at the age of 60. During his time as player for Argentina’s National Football Team, he was world champion in Mexico 1986 and runner-up in Italy 1990. He also played in the 1982 and 1994 World Cups. Furthermore, he established himself in the 1979 U-20 World Cup in Japan.

He played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Spain’s Barcelona, Italy’s Napoli, Spain’s Sevilla, and Newell’s Old Boys.

As manager, apart from being in charge of Argentina’s National Team during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he managed Corrientes’ Mandiyú, Racing Club, Al-Wasl and Al-Fujairah (United Arab Emirates), Dorados de Sinaloa (Mexico) and Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.
