That day, apart from making his relationship with River official, Demichelis toured the club's facilities, the home team locker room, the squad’s training sector, the playing field, and the River Museum.

The press conference to announce him as River’s new coach was held at 7 p.m., in the stadium's auditorium.

Ever since Demichelis was young, his life has always been linked to River: he lived at the River House as a youth player, he finished the final year of school at Instituto River, graduating in 1998, and he won two titles during his time as a player: the 2002 and 2003 Clausura Tournaments. Aside from his long football career in Europe, he defended Argentina’s colors in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, scoring a goal in the former.
