After a beginning in which Huracán was the one approaching the goal, with César Ibáñez’s deflected shot, for instance, River started to gain prominence and, in a few minutes, put together several interesting collective plays, but the final shot was missing. Then the first shout arrived, after an excellent move by Nacho Fernández and a good pass behind Matías Suárez for Milton Casco to define as 9, at the beginning of the goal area.

El Millionario’s superiority increased and practically didn’t allow the local team to control the ball. In a counterattack, Rafael Borré set Exequiel Palacios for a goal, but the midfielder shot towards the goalkeeper’s body. The next play had the same formula: Nicolás De La Cruz assisted Suárez and No. 7 fired a crossed shot and dominated Antony Silva.

Indeed, Suárez had a one on one that he couldn’t leverage. However, the second one came after another amazing attacking play which culminated in a shot by Nacho Fernández, which was blocked by Bareiro’s hand. No. 26 took charge of the penalty and, by means of a powerful shot, set the score 2-0.

The third one could have arrived through a combination in the attack and a smooth pass from Suárez to De La Cruz, but the Uruguayan shot high. When the first half was coming to an end, Palacios caught a rebound outside of the area and shot a tremendous right-footed shot, setting the score 3-0 at the Tomás Ducó stadium.

At the beginning of the second half, River didn’t take long to control the game and the fourth goal came after a great tackle and projection by Casco, who passed the ball to Borré and, by means of a good pass, the Colombian found De La Cruz, who slid to score the fourth one and crashed into a goalpost.

El Millionario was close to the fifth goal, with very clear plays such as Borre’s one on one that hit the rival’s left goalpost, an attack by Suárez and a one on one by Nacho Scrocco, who was pushed in the area when he was about to shoot and the shove went unpunished. Having accomplished this victory, River will focus on Wednesday’s match against Godoy Cruz for the Argentine Cup.
